Co-founders Emily and Debbie started Ginger Huts to address a need for alternative holidays that are accessible to everyone, including those with a physical, cognitive or social disability. Our inclusive vision also means that we warmly welcome all open-minded people, regardless of ability or need, to share our fantastic facilities and access to nature.

We want our yurts to keep on giving to the local community, so we aspire to use our business as a real-life learning opportunity for adults with disabilities to work and gain skills that will set them up for a future of meaningful employment

We want all guests at Ginger Huts to feel good about their holiday by knowing that they are supporting  the local environment and community with every visit!

About Our Project

Ginger Huts is located in the beautiful grounds of Gosden House School who share our vision to provide holidays and employment opportunities to members of the community who would otherwise struggle.

Eco Sustainability is important to us and so we are liaising with community partners to ensure we are using the latest methods and technology throughout our project that will ensure we are having the lowest impact on our local environment.

Our Vision

Ginger Huts will open in 3 phases which will see us build capacity to move from basic camping through to more upscale yurts and safari tents by 2020. All of our facilities will be thoughtfully planned to consider the needs of people with disabilities but will be open to all. The final phase of our project will aim to support a work skills programme that will enable vulnerable young adults to gain meaningful employment skills in order to find future work in the local community.

We couldn't have done any of this without the amazing support of Gosden House School who have believed in our vision from the start and share our enthusiasm for nature, community and fun!

In her spare time, Emily is a mum to 4 children and works with local schools to help develop their special needs provisions. As an intrepid traveller in her youth, Emily always dreamed of opening her own B&B. Ginger Huts is the result of her vision to create eco friendly holidays while at the same time supporting vulnerable people in the community.

Debbie is Mum to 1 lively boy. She works part-time as a psychologist and lecturer at the University of Surrey in Guildford where she enjoys supervising and teaching students who are training to be health care professionals. All of her research at the University is about supporting the well-being of people with long-term physical health conditions.  Debbie lives next door to Emily and their boys are good friends.  From experience with family members and friends with mobility issues, she knows how hard it can be finding suitable holiday accommodation.    She got hooked on the idea of Ginger Huts because of Emily's drive and vision.
